Nike’s Diary #3 – Oh, No – What Have I Done?

I lost them…holy s***! I mean, I really lost them. I told them I’d be back for them at two. They wanted me to go in with them, but I couldn’t because I’m considered under age by mortals standards.

Dear Diary: I lost them…holy s***! I mean, I really lost them. I told them I’d be back for them at two. They wanted me to go in with them, but I couldn’t because I’m considered under age by mortals standards.

Prometheus thought that was the stupidest thing he had ever heard. I am a Goddess, after all. I just said it was the way of it these days. I was fine. When I came to get them at the spot I said we’d meet up, they were nowhere to be found. I waited till 3 a.m. and the street was empty. I got out and looked around, but no one was there. I knew I had to get the car back up the mountain before Dad found out I took it.

I did try calling Aph, but she didn’t answer. I stayed up all night waiting to hear from her.

Dad popped in. “Alright, I’m off.”

“Where are you off to, Dad?”

“I need to attend to a few things out of town.”

“Oh, how long will you be gone?”

“Not sure.”

“Maybe I should go with you.”

“No, little one. I’ll be fine. It’s just a little outing”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, Nike. It will be fine.”

Dad left the room after giving Hephaestus instructions on some project they were working on.

I was sitting on the window sill, waiting to see if Aph would call.

“Where in the Tardis are my keys?” Dad asked as he came back in the room.

I realized I had forgotten to put the keys back on his hook. “Oh, I have them, Daddy, sorry.”

“Why do you have them? “

“Oh…I…I…we were out of coffee, so I went down to pick up some.”

“OOOOOOOo, Nike!”

I shot Hephaestus a look.

“Here, Daddy.” I tossed the keys to him before he could see Hephaestus.

“Oh, that was good of you. Alright, I’m off again.”

“Bye, Daddy.”

“OOOO, Nike, you just lied to your father,” Heph whispered.

“Oh, shut up,” I said crossly. I sat back down on the sill, hitting my head on the wall. “Where are they?”

“Where is who?” Aphrodite said as she walked back into the room.

“Aph!? You’re back” I said, looking around her to see if I could see Prometheus. “Wait, where’s Prometheus?”

“I don’t know. I thought he came back here.”

“No, he didn’t. Damn it!!!!”

“Nike, you’re going to be in trouble now.”

“What?”

“Well, you took Dad’s car, you helped Prometheus, and you just lied. Tsk, tsk, little one,” Hephaestus said, teasing me further.

“I’m going to see if I can find him.” I jumped out the window and flew away.

How am I going to get out of this one, Diary?
